It is aimed to be passed on to future generations
It is aimed that the mosaics will reach future generations as if they were the first day. Fine work is done on the mosaics, which are inspected previodly, without damaging the texture. A delicate conservation process is applied to mosaics that are exposed to contamination due to dusting due to the size of the environment. It is checked whether the mortar of the mosaics has deteriorated and immediate action is taken to prevent the deterioration from getting worse.
At the Zeugma Mosaic Museum, which is the only mosaic museum in the world that has reached 13 color scales, both photographic and written documentation is being carried out. The colors and types of stones are determined. New mortar applications can be made. It was even determined that glass tesserae and colored stones were used in some mosaics. Zeugma Mosaic Museum, built on an area of 30 thousand square meters, was visited by 1 million visitors in 2020 with the 'Virtual Museum' application created by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
