Zeugma, which had its most glorious days in the 2nd century AD, was one of the 4 largest cities of the Roman Empire. Zeugma was indeed a magnificent city, where high-ranking officers resided because it was the headquarters of the 4th Legion region, and rich merchants lived due to its strategic advantages. However, later on, this magnificent city was destroyed by wars and natural disasters (fire, landslide, etc.) and its ruins remained. remained underground.

This mysterious city did not see the light of day until the excavations began in the Ancient City of Zeugma. The magnificent works unearthed during the excavations also inspired graphic artists. The graphic designers of the French Le Figaro Magazine managed to take us back 1800 years by adding mosaics to the photographs they took during the excavations in Area A, using the photo montage method. The resulting magnificent illustration describes the glorious days of Zeugma 1800 years ago in the most beautiful way.

Area A, which is currently under the waters of the Birecik Dam, was the richest excavation area in terms of finds. The mosaics unearthed from this region are currently exhibited in the Gaziantep Museum.
